Return to practice – Allied Health Professionals

Thinking of returning to your allied health profession? Your skills and experience are needed more than ever before, and there has never been a better time to return to your profession - it is easier than you might think.

At Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust we are happy to support your return to practice. We offer periods of adaptation, support and mentoring to help you develop the skills and competencies you need to get on the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) register.

Contact the South West London Recruitment Hub to ask about AHP return to practice (khft.recruitmenthubnonnursing@nhs.net) or email our AHP return to practice lead at Kingston Hospital (emilyorme@nhs.net).

For further information on returning to practice, and the required eligibility criteria, visit the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) website

Please note, if you have any fitness/condition to practice issues cited against you by the HCPC, you would not be eligible to return to practice.

Read Aline’s story:

Aline Shalev (Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist)

“My name is Aline and I`m from Brazil. I graduated as a Physiotherapist in December 2013, back in Brazil. When I moved to the UK in 2014 with my partner, I didn’t feel confident speaking English and then decided to put my career on hold, while improving my English.

As life goes, I found myself pregnant with my first child – we felt very blessed, but working as a Physiotherapist seemed a far away reality at that moment.

I started to pursuit my dream to start to work as a Physiotherapist in 2017 – I knew that helping people to achieve their potential was what I wanted to do, but as an immigrant, validating my diploma from Brazil to the UK was a crucial step.

I managed to get my first job as a Physiotherapist Assistant in 2018 while waiting for my HCPC registration to be accepted.

In 2019, my HCPC registration was accepted, and I became a Physiotherapist in the UK. Returning to practice wasn’t an easy road, but I can guarantee it was all worth it.”
