Patients on these wards can now receive one visit a week by one family member or friend.

Visitor booking line
Open: 10.30 - 11.30am
Phone: 020 8934 3824

(or phone the ward booking line directly on the numbers listed below).

Call on the day before you would like to visit.

Each ward will have a dedicated member of staff answering calls meaning that it should be easy to get through to the booking line – even though the line is open for a shorter period of time.

Visitors will not be allowed onto the wards at any time without a booking unless this has been agreed with the ward staff because of specific circumstances (your family member is receiving end of life care or needs and advocate because of dementia or learning disability).

Slots will be staggered between 1pm-4pm and the visitor can stay with their relative for 40 minutes.

Visiting will be on alternate days as follows:

  • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: Kennet, Derwent, Blyth, Hamble
  • Wednesday, Friday, Sunday: Keats, Bronte, Hardy

Visiting on Isabella
Visiting will take place between 6-8pm Tuesday to Saturday and the visitor can stay with their relative for 40 minutes.

Visitors will be told to enter the hospital via level 2 Esher Wing. They will be checked for COVID-19 symptoms and given a mask.  Further PPE will be given on entering the ward.

There are currently no changes to visiting on other wards at this stage. This is because of the steps we are taking to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and to keep everyone safe. These wards are Kingston Private Health, Cambridge, Astor and AAU.

Children under 16 on our inpatient wards – one visitor allowed at a time. No siblings are allowed to visit.

Maternity – one birth partner for labour and delivery only, swapping is not permitted. No siblings are allowed to visit.  Find more information about changes to our maternity services here.

Changes to our outpatient services

To reduce the number of visits to the hospital by members of the public, we are changing how we provide outpatient care.

We are only asking people to come to the hospital if it is essential for you to see a health professional because of your current health condition, or you need urgent investigations or treatment for a new problem.

Find out more about the changes to our outpatient services and what to do if you have an appointment.

We would like to reassure patients that Kingston Hospital remains committed to seeing all urgent cases, whilst assessing the most appropriate level of care and minimising risk to patients and staff.

Changes to Kingston Hospital’s Royal Eye Unit Eye Casualty walk-in service

To facilitate social distancing in waiting areas and to limit traffic through the Royal Eye Unit, the walk-in eye casualty service was replaced with a booked appointment system, back in March. Feedback from patients has been positive and as a result, we are intending to maintain this service change for the time being.

We have set up a dedicated phone line to make it as easy as possible for appointments to be booked, so that urgent cases can continue to be seen promptly - tel: 020 8934 6799.

Paediatrics - Emergency Department

The Emergency Department at Kingston Hospital is still seeing children. Please attend as usual if you are worried that your child requires urgent medical assistance. Once your child has been  triaged in the Emergency Department you may be redirected to another part of the Hospital for further assessment and treatment. This is due to the current Coronavirus pandemic. Please be assured that your child will receive the same care from the same specialist nursing and medical teams at Kingston Hospital, but this may well be in a different part of the Hospital than is usually the case.

Important information about the coronavirus (COVID-19)

The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to protect patients, our community and NHS staff while ensuring as many services as possible are available to the public.

If you have symptoms associated with coronavirus including a new continuous cough and a high temperature, you are advised to stay at home for 7 days.

Please do not book a GP appointment or attend your GP practice.

If you live with other people, they should stay at home for at least 14 days, to avoid spreading the infection outside the home. After 14 days, anyone you live with who does not have symptoms can return to their normal routine.

But, if anyone in your home gets symptoms, they should stay at home for 7 days from the day their symptoms start. Even if it means they're at home for longer than 14 days. The most up-to-date public guidance is always online at

If your symptoms are serious, or get worse, NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need further medical help and advise you what to do.

Only call 111 direct if you are advised to do so by the online service or you cannot go online.
