Visiting Kingston Hospital

Changes to visitor restrictions

To continue to keep our patients and staff safe, from Tuesday 24 March, we will no longer be allowing visitors to any of our adult inpatient wards and we kindly ask family members to instead keep in touch via telephone or video calls, where possible.

Exceptions to visitor restrictions will be made only in the following circumstances:

·       If a patient is receiving end-of-life care

·       Children under 16 on our inpatient wards – one visitor allowed at a time

·       Women in labour in our maternity unit – one birthing partner allowed

We ask for your help in respecting this guidance. Thank you.

Welcome to the visitors' area of the Kingston Hospital website.  We hope that you find all you need on these pages.  If not, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service - PALS (details below).

We actively encourage visiting and the involvement of visitors and carers while patients are in hospital.  Keeping in contact with friends and relatives is an important part of a patient’s recovery. However, if you or anyone thinking of visiting has had any symptoms of diarrohoea or vomiting in the past 72 hours you should not visit any hospital. You need to be 48 hours clear before you can visit to avoid spreading any germs to patients. The same applies if you have any symptoms of flu.   Please see the pages on infection control for more advice.

We strongly recommend that visitors use public transport to get to the hospital. If you wish to travel by car, please be aware that parking at the hospital site is very limited and you should allow yourself plenty of time to find a parking space. At busy times, there may be queues for spaces. Please visit the Travelling to Kingston Hospital page for more details.

There are many ways in which visitors can be involved in a patient's care, such as helping at meal times, and we are happy to support visitors to do so, if that is the patient’s wish.

The wards have different visiting times, depending on the needs of the patients, so please check with the individual wards.
