At Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, we conduct audits as part of a national CQUIN (Commissioning for Quality and Innovation) which allows us to monitor our progress in improving the quality and safety of our sepsis care.

We submit our results to the commissioners and NHS England CQUINs enable commissioners to reward excellence, by linking a proportion of service providers’ income to the achievement of national and local quality improvement goals. Within the hospital we report to the Deteriorating Patient Group and regularly feedback to individual wards and departments about compliance with evidence-based guidelines.

Daily electronic sepsis reports ensure care is reviewed in a timely manner and appropriate treatment of the potentially septic patient remains a priority of the trust.
