Meals and nutritional support

Meals are served three times a day:

Breakfast:  8.00am – 8.30am
Lunch:      12.30pm – 1.00pm
Supper:     5.30pm – 6.00pm

Drinks are available throughout the day. There will be a menu at your bedside to guide you in choosing your meals and ward staff are able to help you with making your choices.

Special diets

If you have special dietary requirements for medical or cultural reasons (eg gluten free diet, halal or kosher diets), please let the nurse in charge know and alternative meals can be provided.

Help at mealtimes

Ensuring that patients are well nourished plays an important part in their recovery.  All of our wards have protected mealtimes between 12 and 1.30pm and we are keen to ensure that if patients do require extra help with eating at mealtimes, there is a member of staff or volunteer available to help. We also actively encourage relatives, carers and friends to come in at mealtimes to help their loved ones with eating and drinking and are always looking for new volunteers to help at mealtimes on a regular basis.
