Coming into hospital can be a time of anxiety for you and your family and friends. Times of stress or ill health can raise questions or concerns about life and what really matters. Whatever your faith, life philosophy, culture, race, gender or sexual orientation, our Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team responds to anyone who asks. We respect each individual person’s beliefs and views, coming alongside to provide:
- A confidential listening ear and companionship
- Someone to explore life questions and spiritual issues with
- Support to follow your particular faith through prayer, ceremony and sacraments
- Contact with local communities & faith leaders
- 24/7 availability
The Chapel, together with the male and female Multi-Faith Rooms on the 4th Floor of Esher Wing are always open for quiet reflection or prayer. Patients can contact their own faith leaders through the Chaplaincy and most wards have assigned volunteer visitors who visit the wards each week.
Our Christian, Jewish and Muslim Chaplains ensure that rites, ceremonies and sacraments are brought to the bedside – ask the nursing staff to request this via Switchboard. Weekly services are held in the Chapel:
- Wed 12.30 pm – Roman Catholic Mass
- Thurs 9.45am – Holy Communion (CofE)
If you would like a Chaplain to visit, please ask your nurse to contact the Chaplaincy team for you. If your request is urgent, please ask the ward staff to contact the On Call Chaplain, via the hospital Switchboard.
Alternatively, you, or your relatives or carers, can call the Chaplain’s office directly on 0208 546 7711 Ext: 2292.
