Mr Jim Weir - Radiology General Manager

Joined KHFT in January 1994

What does your average day look like at KHFT?

Vin - My average day consists of patient focussed care which can include seeing and treating patients within nuclear medicine, CT or MRI, and reporting the scans as well as x-rays and other examinations. I attend MDTs and other radiology orientated groups. When I am not clinical, I attend management meetings in my new role, including the four monthly PRMs within Cluster 3, results of which myself and colleague, Jim Weir, present at the main Cluster PRM. I also undertake 1:1 meetings with the leads of the PRMs and help find solutions to any issues that may arise.

Jim - Every day is slightly different but as a General Manager I have lots of meetings to attend and discussions with colleagues on various aspects of the work we do within our group of departments.

What makes you proud in your job?

Vin - I am proud to have a great team behind me. I am also proud to have achieved, alongside Jim, the Managed Equipment Service (MES), a multi-million pound contract (including an on- site maintenance engineer) that has resulted in Radiology obtaining new, state-of-the-art equipment to provide the best service to our patients for many years to come.

Jim - Over the past year or so my Radiology colleagues and I have been re-building the department as part of the Trust’s Managed Equipment Service with Siemens. This is a huge undertaking and is improving the way in which we provide imaging for outpatients. It is the biggest and best project I have been part of during my career.
