What does your average day look like at KHFT?
Every day is different but we attend numerous meetings, prepare reports and liaise with Public Health England, medical device manufacturers and community partners. We attend training to maintain our skills and knowledge and we also deliver training and carry out audits, surveillance & ward rounds. We answer infection control questions from staff via telephone & email, document and notify staff of results and advise on infection control precautions. We also provide infection control support to BMI Coombe and Princess Alice Hospice. We advise on new products, new builds and refurbishments, and ensure the Trust is compliant with current legislation on infection control and decontamination.
What makes you proud in your job?
Infection control practice is generally very good in the Trust and we are proud to be part of an organisation that provides outstanding care to our patients.
We are also proud to have been an early implementer of flu point of care testing, and to be recognised for this in Public Health England national guidance.
