My new word of the day is 'awesome'. Day 1 of Breaking The Cycle has been fantastic. I have spent the day walking around the hospital and talking to staff about Breaking The Cycle in their areas.

A&E felt very calm and organised with the changes they have put in place.  It felt that patients were all receiving high quality care and what was even more noticeable was that staff were happier.

On the Acute Assessment Unit the way they have worked in teams was really good.

I chaired the daily meeting with community and borough partners and we all agreed that they we are going to work together to reduce the number of delayed transfers of care from the hospital.

One of the big things I have noticed around the hospital today are the conversations we are having with patients about their care and what they can expect to happen each day.

Today has been a tremendous start, great effort from all frontline staff and the corporate teams. Thank you everyone, let's see what Day 2 brings...
