Therapy Services Assessment – Pain Clinic

https://kingstonhospital.nhs.uk/information/therapy-services-assessment-pain-clinic

This leaflet is for patients who have been referred for an assessment for the Therapy Service within the Pain Clinic.

Who will carry out the assessment?

This assessment will be carried out by a Pain Specialist Psychologist and/or Physiotherapist and will take approximately 50 minutes.

What is the assessment for?

The assessment aims to find out more about your symptoms and the impact they are having on you and your daily activities. This information is used to decide which of the services we offer is most appropriate for you.

The Therapy Service offers a range of self-management strategies which have been proven to help people who have pain that has lasted for longer than 6 months (chronic pain).

What happens at the end of the appointment?

At the end of the appointment, we will discuss your options with you so that you can make a decision about what you would like to take part in. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions.

Do I have to have an assessment?

No.  If you do not wish to have the assessment, please ring the Pain Clinic on 020 8934 2453 and we will cancel your appointment and discharge you from the Therapy Service.  This will not affect any other appointments you have in the Pain Clinic.
