Maximum weight limit: 180 kg (or 28 stones 5 lbs)

When should you not use a raised toilet seat?

Do not use a raised toilet seat if:

  • you have not been assessed as needing one
  • it does not fit the toilet
  • you are unable to guide yourself on and off the toilet without using your arms – for example, if you use a radiator next to the toilet to steady yourself (in this case, a different piece of equipment will be issued)
  • you have balance issues or spasms which could loosen the brackets holding the toilet seat in place
  • the brackets holding the toilet seat in place have become loose or fixtures and fittings of the toilet (bowl and cistern) are loose
  • you have difficulty walking around or standing (lower limb weakness)

How to set up a raised toilet seat

  1. Lift up both the lid and seat of the toilet.
  2. Secure the adjustable brackets to the toilet bowl.
  3. Make sure that you can put both feet flat on the floor. If your feet cannot reach the floor, do not use the raised toilet seat.
