The service consists of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and therapists providing specialist stroke care.

The 20 bedded Acute Stroke Unit is based on Keats ward and is part of the London Stroke Network.

Most of the patients are repatriated from one of the London Hyperacute Stroke Units (usually St George's or Charing Cross Hospitals). There are also close links to the community neurorehabiliation and early supported discharge teams. A daily consultant led TIA clinic takes place on the AEC (Ambulatory Emergency Care) for urgent assessment and treatment of suspected TIAs.

  • "His recovery owes a lot to the loving care on the ward, and also to his diet and the various therapists…up to that point I was very sceptical about therapists but now I have been converted! During his stay on your ward, he made outstanding progress." Patients Relative
