We offer an outpatient hysteroscopy service for women with irregular or heavy periods. We also see patients who require investigation of the cavity of the womb or its lining.

What should you expect?
We aim to see patients as soon as feasible (usually within six weeks of referral).
When you attend for your procedure, you will be met by one of our consultants and another member of our dedicated gynaecology nursing staff.
The procedure itself only takes a few minutes and is usually well tolerated. Some women experience some discomfort or period-like cramps. Patients are therefore advised to take simple pain killers (Paracetamol or Ibuprofen) just before the procedure.
Referral is done by the consultant who sees you in the Gynaecology Clinic
