About Us

When one of your relatives dies, as soon as you feel able, please call the Bereavement Service on 020 8934 3355. They will talk you through how and when the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death will be completed. Once completed they will send to the Register Office at the Guildhall in Kingston and the Register office will call you directly to organise a date and time for you to go in person to register the death.

This can sometimes take a few days as the cause of death has to be agreed by a Medical Examiner before the appropriate Doctor can complete the certificate.

Occasionally a case may be referred to the Coroner’s Office for review, which can also cause a delay. Our office can advise you further if this affects you.

If you would like to arrange a viewing, you can call the mortuary, on 020 8934 2644 as you must make an appointment. This service can also be provided by your funeral director.
