Professional background

Richard Waddington has been a Consultant Anaesthetist at Kingston Hospital since 2008. He is the Trust Lead for Paediatric Anaesthesia and Chair of the Paediatric Surgical Forum. He is an active member of the Thames Paediatric Anaesthetic Group and the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland. He is an Instructor for both Paediatric and Adult Life Support.

Richard began his undergraduate medical training at Wadham College, Oxford before completing clinical training at University College and Middlesex School of Medicine.

His anaesthetic training began at the Royal Free Hospital in 1996 and finished at St George’s Hospital, working at most of the District General and Teaching Hospitals in a clockwise direction between the two. He completed a fellowship year at Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2008, including three months on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

His main sub-speciality interest is paediatric anaesthesia, but he also works in adult ENT, general surgery and urology and obstetrics.
