Dr Ong is a Consultant Neurologist at Kingston Hospital and St George’s Hospital. She completed her specialist training in Neurology at various tertiary and teaching hospitals including the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
She covers different areas of general neurology, and her specialist interest is in the areas of headache and traumatic brain injury (TBI). She has set up a complex headache service at Kingston, and has authored a teaching module for clinicians on headache presentations which is published on the BMJ’s Learning portal.
She also works within the St George’s Hospital TBI group, a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team which serves as an active clinical research hub and provides evidence-based management for patients with post-TBI complications.
Dr Ong has conducted research at Imperial College London in pre-clinical models of TBI, neuroinflammation and neuroprotection. Her work has been published in a peer-reviewed medical journal and presented at international conferences. The results of her recent research on blast-related head injury will be published shortly.
Outside of work, Dr Ong enjoys classical music; she plays the piano, pipe organ and sings in the choir.
