Dr Julekha Wajed was appointed as a Consultant Rheumatologist at Kingston Hospital in May 2021, having had extensive experience as a consultant at Frimley Park Hospital previously.
She graduated from Manchester University in 2003, completed her medical training in North Thames London, and CCST in Rheumatology and General Internal Medicine in the South Thames London training program. She has completed the MRCP, speciality certificate exam in Rheumatology and was awarded Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2017.
Dr Wajed has won the Barbara Ansell prize and Eric Bywaters runner up prize at the Royal Society of Medicine. She was awarded the travelling fellowship through the British Society of Rheumatology and was awarded an MSc in Rheumatology, with Merit, from Kings College London.
She has a keen research interest, with multiple publications in many peer reviewed journals. She has presented at British and European Rheumatology conferences.
Dr Wajed has led roles on clinical effectiveness & audit committees, including improving local services for the management of early inflammatory arthritis. She is actively involved with the training and teaching of local GPs and junior doctors.
She has experience in inflammatory and autoimmune conditions as well as soft tissue and joint injections. She is passionate about patient focused care, converging medical treatment, exercise and patient education.
